Written in 1947, just after the war. This is 12 tone music, and it's a masterwork that deserves to be played with more frequency. Classic!

Can it be more proggressive? Twelve tone and spoken word in the same piece? When was this originally writen?

It is, but as in most of his later works Schönberg is sometimes quite inconsequent with the 12-tonetechnique. However quite in the end when the choir sings the whole 12-tone row (Sch'ma Israel)

Can anybody tell me whether or not this piece is twelve tonal

Minor keys never captured the essence of real pain for me. It's so dramatic and lyrical, it doesn't match the world. Sometimes you want to scream, whisper, growl, but not sing. God forbid singing. |
