In regards to concern for the continued survival of humanity I honestly want you to just look at what happened 20 years ago during the Cold War having our entire race almost wiped out 8 times because of political squabbles or the fact that our nations have created enough biological and nuclear weapons to kill off all of humanity 10 times over.We don't need A.I. to wipe us out, if that is even a choice they would ever make, we could very easily do that ourselves.

...born nanotechnology would have made great advances and with it be able to create any form, and any amount, of the resources they may need and rather than going to war for anything could simply venture out and expand in space. There would simply be nothing for them to gain. Many developed nations are considering leaving behind military operations (thats something the mass media isn't showing is it?) for these same reasons as well as simple humantarianism.

..to them being destroyed in the first place by beings who did nothing wrong, and largely only wanted to live in peace, until they were struck by man.And honestly what rational reason would there be for machines to ever go to war with humans (being programmed to do so and choosing to do so is different)? Food? They can gain energy from the sun. Land? They can create great and giant buildings on land, sea, space, and possibly in the sky? Resources? By the time true A.I. would have been...

...pretty sure (I mean we don't exactly look to our groin and say to other people this is how we make decisions...or at least I hope not lol). There is also the possibility that we create true A.I. purely by accident, which seems to be the case with the machines in the Matrix, which happens often in science. And in regards to that it was humanity's fear of these beings, and unwillingness to see them for what they are (living creatures that deserved to be respected and live), that lead up..

...the choice to help, leave alone, or harm humanity as was the case with Molly from I Robot since its programming could mutate in ways we may not reconize and still reach the same conclusion of not being controlled. How any of this would be possible would be using the human brain as a model, which we are actually doing to create new computers, since all our functions are rooted there in one way or form. Are we 100% sure? No, that won't happen until we actually do it, but we are...

...is rooted in science. Anything that would be capable of true A.I. would require being able to reconize subtle patterns arounds its environment which in turn would require a parallel nature to how it is allowed to solve problems. This is how our brain works and as a result gives us the ability to reorganize how our brain is constructed and functions. In fact try and inhibit A.I. through programming could have unforseen consequences that could hurt us just as much as if it was given...

...inhibit A.I. in such a way so that it can not perform certain actions by programming it to be so demeans true A.I. It would not be A.I., an intelligence capable of completely making its own decisions, but mere programmed machines as we have today.A matter of fact anything that would be capable of true intelligence and inhibited in some fashion through its programming would eventually mutate pass those limitations as was seen with Molly from I Robot which...

Actually we have already created machines that are capable of making choices (albeit at a limited extent) and can in fact kill us since much of the A.I. programs out there are being funded by our defense budgets. Now in regards to how we would limit A.I. how would you in fact do that? We must remember it is called intelligence after all. Once you create something that can learn on its own and make its own decisions it ceases to be programming and becomes true intelligence. So to try to...

dude, there's a difference between creating beings in our image, to whatever extent we can create beings in our image, and creating machines that can choose to strike like humans, and have human emotions, etc. if we are unsure how we work, how can we create machines that work like us? man designs A.I. that can be controlled by man, not A.I. that does whatever it wants against him. It wouldn't make sense for man to design a machine that is capable of killing man on its own will.
