Two Phone interviews done the evening of Phil Lynott's death on 1/4/1986. Scott Gorham and Brian Downey both answer some questions about their experiences with Phil. The thing that struck me most is how surprised they were that Phil died...in Downey's case, almost to the point of aloofness. Very sad to listen to.*The pictures (except for the very last one) were given to me by "lynottfan4". He was fornunate enough to see Lynott when he was in Grand Slam at a small pub and get some pictures, and kind enough to pass them on to me. I thought this video would be a good time to use them.Enjoy!

To me this sounds exactly like Scott. He sounds just like that in any inteview of his I heard from that time. I do agree with you on the other thing you say. Really, how do you ask someone to go on radio after they just lost their best friend!

this doesnt sound anything like Scott, must b the redording, and it was the evening Phil died so he must have been really upset, thanks for this, still cant believe that this guy asked Scott and Brian to go on the radio on the evening that his best friend died, so disrespectful in my opinion

WHAT??? You're complaining about a cassette recording of a radio phone interview??? This sounds fine to me. Twat.Amazing audio to hear. Wow, that's sad sad stuff. And I guess they were being quiet about the drug thing at the time, as this really does contradict everything that Brian and Scott in particular have said in recent interviews.Phil was well and truly on the smack right up til the end.

Thanks again for an incredible find. You really should be the official Lizzy archivist.

Well then feel free to post yours. If it's better I'll be happy to take this one down. This is a recording from a cassette tape 22 years ago of a guy talking on a telephone. Sorry it's not Dolby 5.1 surround sound. Let's keep that in mind.

The sound of the recording i have is much clearer and sounds right. This version is bad which doesnt give out the correct sounding of scott or dave.A bad cassette tape copied.

The interviewers Leo Enright and Dave fanning also sound a little high so this would suggest that the tape is playing a little fastI also find it odd that both Gorham and Downey would be in denial, but I suppose it was the day that Phil died they would be the last people to start a controversey and give tabloids fodder to exploit. While I would agree that perhaps Philo had maybe given up heroin his body was shutting down due the years of indulgence and neglectRIP Philo
