This classic 1971 movie with gene wilder(and one of my favorites) is extremely better than the new crappy one with johny depp.

The new film may be closer to the book with the squirrels and everything, but it was dark and looked into wonka more (don't even think that was in the book) and the complete opposite of this. This is a classic because of its light-hearted tone with the addition of music. Plus its the embodiment of a candy factory and the lessons are a metaphor for the negative effects of candy which this film represents well. Not to mention the oompa-loompas were actual people.

The New Film ruined the spirit of the factory..have you seen the oompa loompas in the new one? thats just wrong..this on is a timeless classic with great singing.
