I first heard this at the end of Miami Vice and loved it ever since. To me, as a nullifidian, the song is about remembering that we should try to mend the wrongs in the US but we should remember that the US is a power for good in the world, and that there is a genuine beauty in the people and country.

Hearing this again sent me back in time to a theater in Las Vegas when I was a 18 year old kid. Standing at the exit curtain listening to this moving, soul stirring song as my friends screamed at me to "come on" They all laughed at me when they saw tears in my eyes. I guess they would be laughing now because the tears are flowing again. R.I.P T.K. Oh yeah....amazing photo journal scwells64

maybe your right. I haven't seen 'electric glide in blue' although i've tried renting it dozens of times (no place near my house has it). but miami vice remains my favorite show ever and this song combined with the ending to miami vice, brought me to tears.

No hate against the show "Miami Vice".But if you've ever seen "Electra Glide in Blue", which came out in 1973, you associate "Tell Me" with THAT movie. Especially regarding how the movie "Electra Glide..." ended. To me, it was cheap and a RIP-OFF to use "Tell Me" for the last episode of "Vice". I was actually stunned and then disgusted when I changed the channel to "Vice" and heard that song on the last episode. I changed the channel again!I was just giving an opinion, though. |
