Very well put nitouken. Interpretation of music is very important. Here's an example of how: One person may sing a song that he wrote, but it doesn't sound as good as when another person sings it.

The entire concept, in fact, of "low-brow McCeltic music" (great phrasing, goldenseals), is completely absurd. Music is about interpretation. Brilliant or not, what makes Celtic Woman's interpretation of traditional music any less valid than any other? Music is the ultimate justifier of postmodern thought.

I don't agree with the detractors and "purists." I think these young women are brilliant not only musically, but in KNOWING what the people want and delivering it spot on. Loving Celtic Woman and the Medieval Baebes is not low-brow McCeltic music; instead, it's brilliant interpretation and performing talent.

Both Celtic Thunder and Celtic Woman are great in their own right. There's no need to degrade either one of them.
