what a fucking whore "president before had not even tried" Eisenhower tried twice to sign the civil rights and democrats at that time in congress voted against it. in 1964 more republicans voted to pass the civil rights act than democrats. 80% to 60%.yep but i know what you gonna say those who were republicans then now would've been democrats typical liberal brainwashing

LBJ didn't kiss Joe McCarthy's ass. RFK did. LBJ didn't OK the Diem coup. JFK did. I worshipped JFK. I shook his & Jackie's hands in FW & Dallas on 11/22/63. I suffered & wept when the Miami Cubans (who hated JK for failing in Bay of Pigs) & the Mafia dons (who hated JFK/RFK for abandoning them after they felt they got JFK elected) killed him. I was a first hand witness to the real history, not the crap being passed off today as history to deify JFK/RFK. Teddy is the greatest Kennedy!

CRB=Civil Rights Bill-passed/signed by LBJ within a year of JFK's death/JFK had almost 3 years to get it done & didn't!OHB=Open Housing Bill-struck at discrimination in home buying..passed/signed by LBJVRB=Voting Rights Bill-passed/signed by LBJ-I am having trouble getting Obama's campaign to come to grips with the fact that voting rights are under mortal attack by Repubs nationwide: Repub Voter ID laws & proposals.LBJ's civil rights passion was on record as hotter than JFK's/RFK's.

Of course, I didn't say you were Black & you did demean a real champion of civil rights when you demeaned H. Clinton & mis-stated the case & the realities. LBJ did way, way, way more than merely sign the bills into law. He manipulated, coerced, cajoled, blackmailed & extorted southern house and senate committee chairs to get CRB, VRB, OHB passed. He laid it on the line in ways JFK & MLK couldn't. Yeah, I resent the implications of your posts because they are the spawn of abject ignorance.

His passion for civil rights for women, minorities, et al., was as much a part of him as his big ears. His words were, "We made a promise to blacks 100 years ago, and By God, we are going to keep it!" & he did...Hillary was not demeaning MLK, she was giving credit where credit has been withheld & overdue.

He had a passion that was required to get legislation passed, & because he was president, could not march in the streets. Did JFK march in the streets? No! Why? That is what I mean by ignorance of real history & the way government worked. Southern Democrats ruled the House/Senate because they were chairs of the major committees. Clinton's statement was one that seemed to diminish the role of the true heroes of Civil Rights. In my opinion, LBJ's stroke of the pen was admirable but I do not believe he shared the same passion as the people doing the ground work. LBJ and Lincoln are a like in that neither were exactly champions of anything other than striking a balance to end divisions. You sound like a very interesting person. I would love hear more of what you have to say about it if you can refrain from name calling.

Well I am not black and I did not say I thought JFK did it. LBJ signed it into law. MLK and others are the people that went to jail, took beatings.. I don't understand how you can put words in my mouth and then claim that I am ignorant. JFK was a cheerleader for civil rights but was sadly killed before he could ever do anything. LBJ signed civil rights act of 1964 into law but RFK continued the passion for peace between the races until he was sadly killed as well.

I was working for a US Senator, RW Yarborough, (D-Tx) when civil rights legislation was moving through congress.
