It's a story familiar to most of us from school. And in many ways, the story of the passengers on the Mayflower is like that of every immigrant who has come to America to start a new life. Yet the true story of the Pilgrims is far more complex than the one most of us learned as children -- and also more intriguing. This is a decades-long epic tale, filled with real drama, tragedy, and inspiration, revealed in the three-hour special DESPERATE CROSSING: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE MAYFLOWER, a World Premiere on The History Channel on Sunday, November 19 at 8pm ET/PT.

Even the Native Americans were new comers to the N.A. continent at one time AND they are believed to have wiped out the population of people that had arrived BEFORE them. I guess you could say, they were the 'illegals'. As well, Native Americans had slaves along with African tribes and other cultures from all around the world. Hello? This isn't just something one group of people thought up. Can we stop seeing things in terms of us and them and instead recognize human nature for what it is.

I think the Pilgrims were very brave men and women.Of course, I am a direct descendant of Gov. William Bradord and John Alden.

I can't imagine hundreds of people crammed on a boat.... Really then let's not even discuss slavery which came shortly after the pilgrims got here and then slaughtered the natives... hmmm Sure I believe your version of history.

This Documentary doesn't show all the things Pablo Escobar did for Colombia, they pertray him as an evil person, which may be true but he did a lot for his country. He built hospitals, neighberhoods, parks and school but im sure they wouldn't want to talk about that....The man was a genious!!! Rest In Peace

I'm so glad this has been done. The story has never really beed told, despite what most people think. By all accounts it's great. I'm glad to see the Stephen Hopkins from Plimoth Plantation appears. I can't wait to see it tomorrow!
