another great story by Stephen King. I don't agree with all his politics but that guy knows how to write stories, not just horror. His non- horrors include this,

This is indeed one of the best movies ever made, without a shade of doubt. The theme of this movie is powerful, and moving. And it shows that no matter the issue, hope is always the strongest grasp we can have. Morgan Freeman said it; "Get busy living, or Get busy dying. That's Damn right."

all i can say guys that a story like this wud never be made in future i hope so....what a wonderful story and yes after 40 yrs in a jail like this islated frm the world u certainly cant live among them no normal that suicidal feeling comes and morgan freeman and tim robbins at their best...............its the best story ever told and best movie ever made...i still cry seing this movie..so emotional so touchy...

If you can't escape and create some drama and magic in films, where can you? What made me connect with it is that it's about inner strength. Now everyone has that, just in stories and films it can lead to a happy ending whereas in real life it made not be enough to give you the happiness you deserve. Also what about when Andy was beaten up so bad? The corruption inside this system? When they were determined to never let Andy go? Is that not realistic? Its all about overcoming the odds.
