Everything happens to Frodo cause he has the Ring. The water creater grabs frodo cause it is drawn to the dark power of the ring. Same with the Troll. In the book, its actually an orc that stabs frodo, not the troll. And also while in the mines pippin says "Its wierd how the water creature grabbed frodo first than the rest of us". All because the Dar power of the ring is drawing the monsters to him.

The Balrog can fly, even tho it dosnt show it in the film. He has wings.
