And he managed to pursuade his dad, who was a jazz-pianist, to purchase a lot of their recordings. The songs that were actually meant to hit a mature audience struck him even at such a very young age. Rogier: "Clooney had a big influence on me. She wasn't just 'another' singer who sang a song, she was an artist who could put words and lyrics into a story, and children associate immediately with that. You can't fool kids, like Clooney once said herself. And a newspaper once said 'If the Statue of Liberty could sing it would probably sound like Rosemary Clooney'. -I think I learned from Clooney. First of all, you have to understand a song before you sing it and you've got to live the composer's intentions.
