There is something so wonderfully rising above everything else when two or more join in playing together - and learn to interpret the written music into living moving art - Congratulations for your efforts, and please don't rush because patience to get the basics right matters a lot. How is your bowing technique? Mine took a long time and the right teacher and the right practicing over and over. Each day a little more will change hardly without being able to notice it. Keep it going and enjoy!

I also agree- I've played the violin for 4 months, and using the 3 P's (or in my case, willpower, patience and practice) and I'm going to learn to shift to second position already in one month!!!!

I do so agree with you.

There are minor differences in bowing technique between violin and viola, but Zukerman actually has one of the better bow hands of modern artists. I know a number of successful professionals who recommend watching Zukerman's right hand for an example of good bow technique.
