Yep, Imps are *cool* -- I had two when I was young. They had a top-speed of about 80mph whereas minis ran out of puff at little over 70. Do you realise that the Imp was actually "inspired" by the 1960 Chevy Corvair? Do a search on YouTube and you'll see how similar the bodywork was. The Corvair even had an all-aluminium engine mounted behind a transaxle, just like the Imp (although it was air-cooled).

The only Imp that came with a 998cc engine was the Rally version, more of a homologation special really. Many Imps have since been modified to 915, 930, 998, 1040, 1120 and some even to 1220 spec.Soooooo much better than a Mini in every way.

When I was younger, had an Imp & it would run rings around my mates Mini, especialy out of corners, so much better traction.
