I like what Spitz said, "It's not the swimsuit that's taking the swimmer across the pool fast, it's the guy in the swimsuit stroking the swimsuit fast." Exactly!!!! Same thing with Bball players having to go out and buy $300 dollar shoes when the $40 work fine. Hard work and dedication makes the athlete, the accessories just kind of help. It would have been interesting to see how Spitz would have done with that equipment now back in "72. But, we will never know. Phelps is the best for now.

spitz is so uptight bout the record saying u cant make a comparison coz it isnt the same combination of races. dude mark get over it records are made to be broken

phelps is my hero too. i started swimming this year and he's really inspired me. i mean ive always thought of spitz as a little bit overconfident. but i guess if it was my record i was defending i wouldn't be too happy either.

im 15,im really young but i keep on training and hope some day i can break some records, hoping i can go to Londres 2012, i will put the most high i can my countrys name. :)

u can get gold medals in alot of olympic sports not jsut in swimming....
