totally, UMC was weaker than his other material, but it was still better than almost all of the stuff released this year except for a few things.

I must say, I also completely agree. I can hold my hands up and say UMC may be his worst album but there are two interesting points to consider. One, we know why he did it. We have to consider that this is his living. Through his wonderfully rich catalogue, he has gone gold three times, never platinum, so he had to appeal in a different form. Two, because of the nature of Common, doesn't stop UMC being a good album and still killing most of the others out there. One of the best musicians, period
