my brother was danny gatton's drummer for 18 years. i met roy when i was young. he was one of the greatest. dan and roy, you will never hear anyone as good. EVER!!! they were truly the masters.

yeah its a very interesting technique; jeff beck also does this(cause we've ended as lovers, ect)and theres another good video on you tube of greg koch explaining how to do it(tonus diabolicus)

We call it "violining" in the UK and it can apparently only be done with a Vol pot that is logarithmic rather than Linear, nice to do on a Strat.

You have a lot to discover then. Try his first two Polydor albums and the live albums-Live Stock and Live in Japan.I actually met Roy outside the Bottom Line in '82. We started talking and he invited me back to his hotel-NY Hilton on 57th? if I recall to party for a while. So, I've been into him for a while. Got to touch his '53 Tele he used for years. Great guy as well as great musician.

That's the volume swells he's famous for. He hits the note with the volume down then turns the volume up for that effect.
