Good old Google will find you any number of harpsichord makers. They're often one man outfits. There's a wonderful variety available and it makes me feel good just to browse through these sites. I have an Andrew Garlick one but I don't play well enough to want to be on YouTube yet!

You won't get a nice double manual harpsichord that cheap. but harpsichords are so varied in construction, in sound quality and in level of decoration, that I doubt there is a very meaningful average price.

For someone not very advanced, Maria Boxall's "Harpsichord Method" is a good guide. You might also like to look at Couperin's "L'Art de Toucher le Clavecin". It's available in English.

I've seen second-hand harpsichords on the internet, the avarage price is around €3000 (I dont know how much that is in dollars, but I'm sure you can look that up...) For those harpsichords, I don't know the quality.

How much does the average harpsichord cost? Well, one of this quality anyway.
