i suggest you watch the Shining miniseries WHGICH was what i was meaning, it sticks completely to the book and doesn tmiss out the chunks that kubricks version didbut i suggest reading misery its a short book but non the less compelling

I haven't read Misery. The Shining, by itself, is an OK movie, but after reading the book, holy hell. There's a lot of stuff missing from the book, like the entire conflict with Stuart Ullmann during the interview and for nearly the entire book. They didn't explain tony at all. They hardly talked about the lady in 217, and there was no bad-ass explosion in the boiler room. Another HUGE part of his writing focuses on the inner dialogue of his characters, which are lost in the adaptations. imo.

It's a terrible shame. His books are wonderful, but all of his film adaptations are absolutely dreadful. The only film that turned out decent, imho, is Dreamcatcher.
